A Boston based private equity firm were looking to skill up analysts in accounting and modeling before introducing them to their company investment model. However, they did not want to purchase an off-the-shelf training course. Instead, they approached us to create a tailored instructor-led program complemented with pre-learning and Felix, our fully searchable finance database.

Our Solution

In response to their brief, we designed a financial accounting course centered around the Confidential Information Memo (CIM) of a private company. Prior to this, participants are expected to partake in an initial online module covering basic accounting, Excel, and financial math.

Course Structure

• In the financial analysis component, we include the quality of earnings report and a detailed working capital analysis from the CIM.
• In the financial modeling section, we take the information in the CIM of the private company to forecast the financial statements using the revenue and EBITDA forecasts. We then develop assumptions using historical and comparative information for the rest of the line items.

The Result

Due to the success of the program, we have been delivering at the firm over the last four years and will be training their analysts in 2021.
